What is the NexGen Cup?

The NexGen Cup is an Esports tournament held in the city of Brantford, where each month, the members of the NexGen community will vote in a game for the tournament to be based around. This tournament currently operates with a 32-participant capacity and will be constructed into a bracket to determine the NexGen champion.

What is this all for?

The winner of the NexGen Cup receives a custom trophy for their efforts, special documentation into our ever-expanding record books, and of course.....a cash prize!

Match Format:

  • 1v1 (Fighting games, shooters, sports games)

  • 2v2 (Team-based shooters, co-op games)

  • 3v3 or 4v4 (MOBA, shooters, Rocket League, etc.)

  • Battle Royale (Free-for-all or squads)

 

Bracket System: 

  • Single Elimination (Fast-paced events)

  • Double Elimination (Preferred for high-stakes events)

  • Swiss Format (For balanced matchmaking)

  • Match Duration: Dependent on the game (e.g., Best of 3, Best of 5)

  • Game Settings: Pre-set to match competitive standards

  • Seeding: randomized

  • Tiebreakers: Based on game-specific mechanics (e.g., overtime, sudden death)​
